UK says working to recover up 400,000 deleted records from police database By Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) – A coding problem led to the accidental deletion of up to 400,000 records from British police databases but specialists are working to recover the information from different systems, Home Secretary Priti Patel said on Wednesday.

“So first of all let me just clarify this – this is a coding issue,” Patel said, adding that she could not say how much had been retrieved so far. “We talk about a figure of 400,000 but the actual figure could actually be a lot less.”
