U.K. shares higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.07% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Aerospace & Defense and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.07%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND), which rose 5.72% or 27.20 points to trade at 502.60 at the close. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) added 5.42% or 34.03 points to end at 661.63 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 5.42% or 48.40 points to 940.60 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which lost 4.71% or 59.62 points to trade at 1207.38 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 3.57% or 55.5 points to end at 1500.5 and AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) shed 3.47% or 125.5 points to 3492.5.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1417 to 924 and 64 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.21% or 3.75 to $1804.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.66% or 0.41 to hit $61.29 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.16 to trade at $64.20 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.32% to 1.4105, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8622.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 90.047.
